Much to the
surprise of many, the world’s richest person and the owner of SpaceX and Tesla,
Elon Musk doesn’t seem to be a fan of the revolutionary ‘Metaverse’ concept at
all. Despite acknowledging the fact that he was ‘too old’ to understand this
latest technology, he brushed aside all the anticipations of the ‘Metaverse
fans’ by branding it as completely non-compelling to say the least! Musk
further added that the Augmented Virtual Reality experience provided by the
‘Metaverse’ is merely a speculation and nothing else to be frank…
Elon Musk
explained that the headsets used for the Metaverse universe seem very
uncomfortable to wear and hence it won’t be preferred by many individuals and
especially old-aged people. He also doubted the reception that metaverse will
receive from people, as all of us won’t like to wear a virtual glass on our
face all through the day with so much liking!
Musk thinks
that nobody will be really willing to wear a VR headset day long in a pursuit
towards an imaginary landscape that never really existed! He even mocked how a
person can be teleported simply into another world just by putting a television
on his nose!!! As per his opinion, people won’t abandon their physical life
entirely, just for the sake of being in a virtual world.
In our
childhood, our parents would have advised us to sit and watch the TV screen
from a long distance to avoid damaging our eyes. But Metaverse idea demands us
to wear VR or AR goggles day in and day out. So, Musk says that he was very
surprised to know it all from the health perspective. He even noted that
wearing such strapped objects for longer duration won’t be desirable for sure…
This recent
Elon Musk’s statement has made it clear that the billionaire doesn’t seem much
concerned towards the concept of virtual world and leading an ‘Avatar’ kind of
lifestyle! Musk in his own words admitted that “I don’t know if I
necessarily buy into this metaverse stuff, although people talk to me a lot
about it”, in his recent interview to a satirical YouTube channel called ‘Babylon
Bee’. He believes that he cannot observe a compelling use-case so far for the
VR-driven Metaverse yet and the ideology itself fails to offer better consumer
experience. He at last concluded his statement by stating that he won’t be disappearing
into this hyper-virtual world soon definitely...
