A: Yes, I can see all of the staff members wearing their ID card at the time of the audit.

Q: Did the staff approach you proactively at the time of shopping?
A: Yes. In all the sections that I have examined, I was readily approached by the respective section’s staff.

Q: Did the staff possess adequate knowledge regarding their section’s products?
A:  Yes, all the staff that I have examined seemed to have adequate knowledge about their section’s products. One of the staff members Veronica, with whom I have interacted with, resolved all my queries and also seemed particularly very knowledgeable.

Q: Did the outlet look hygienic from the inside?
A: Yes. The outlet was cleanly maintained as the floors looked clean and tidy all the way.

Q: Did the staff recommend something in person if being asked for?
A: Yes. While making my purchase I intentionally asked the salesperson about his opinion on 2 different brands. He seemed to recommend one particular brand over another which seemed particularly odd to me.

My experience:

When I entered the Globus- Adyar outlet, I could see the security at the front desk and he collected my bag and issued me a token. After taking snaps of the store’s entrance and mannequins, I went to the basement. There I enquired Mr Amit about various men’s brands and styles. He answered all my queries in patience and seemed to have adequate knowledge about the products on display. However, I felt he could improve on his English communication skills. He even suggested me to make use of ongoing flat 799 sale on men’s shirts which was more customer-friendly.

Then I visited women’s wear section and spoke with Veronica, who was well-groomed, knowledgeable and good in communication as well. She explained to me about various stitch types such as cold shoulders, Bloosan stitch, Half shoulder, Playsuit, Bell sleeves, Tip-up, Crop top, Plasso, Straight cut skirt with slot etc., She also explained to me about various spill collection clothing and stylists who have designed exclusive style garments for Globus brand apparels. She also told me that at present Globus only sells inhouse brands Globus and Bohemania. When I questioned Veronica about a particular garment, she replied promptly by explaining that the fabric is of shear Georgett type and possesses a line cut design. She was also able to list all available sizes and brands for the clothing I was looking for without any hesitance.

At last, I audited women’s ethnic wear section. There sales executive Miss. Priyanka ably assisted me by showing all the models that I asked for. When I tested her knowledge by asking a few questions about particular clothing, she seemed to know enough to tell about clothing type, pattern & available sizes. Yet, I felt that she could improve her overall communication levels.

Before leaving, I decided to make my purchase and headed on to men’s wear section to pick apparels of my choice and took them to the billing counter. While making payment, I enquired about exchange policy during which I was explained that owing to GST implementation, item exchange and loyalty point redemption has been temporarily put on hold. Further during my interaction with various outlet staff, I came to know that exchange is not allowed for accessories and innerwear purchases. The cash counter’s staff too were prompt in their action and even tried to convince me to buy an addon item during the time of wait during billing!

The customer loyalty desk staff explained to me about loyalty card benefits and created me a loyalty account using my name and mobile number. They even suggested me to buy Globus gift cards for my friends in the future for gifting purposes. Finally, I was greeted with warmth and was asked to return soon during the upcoming EOSS (End of Season Sale) sale.

Suggestions/ Improvements:

1)      The external appearance of the building looks old as shown in the attached video.
2)      Wall coating seems ripped off in certain parts of the building.

3)      Though 99% of the lighting system looked all good, a minor part of lights at the ceiling were not working.
4)      A few of the staff were feeling uncomfortable in explaining the queries in English as well as in the local language (Tamil).
5)      Kids wear section has been removed and was not available at the time of review.
6)      There were no clear signboards on display for restrooms which were located on the 1st floor.
7)      Restrooms could be maintained more hygienically.
8)      Outer covers of cushions at change room seem ripped off as shown in the attached picture. It is recommended to replace old furniture.

9)      The number of trial rooms seemed inadequate in my personal opinion. During peak hours, the customers might be forced to wait outside.
