It is no wonder to know that a populous country like India features in the list of the top 10 most polluted countries in the world ever so often. Hence in an effort to reduce the overall carbon footprint and keep the overall air pollution levels in check, electric vehicles were first introduced. There cannot be a second opinion in the fact that electric vehicles are the future of transportation for mankind.

Considering the increasing popularity of electric automobiles, already several top automobile manufacturers have ventured into the electric vehicle space. Here in this article, we are about to see a few of the big names that will be landing foot in this industry very soon…

1. Lambretta Electric:
Popular Italian 2-wheeler manufacturer Lambretta is very keen to enter the Indian market, with the launch of a new e-Scooter at the 2020 Indian auto expo. Lambretta’s e-Scooters are expected to feature a neo-retro based design, along with a few modern amenities such as LED headlamps, digital instrument cluster, ABS safety feature and disc brakes.

2. TVS Creon:
This model which was displayed by TVS in the 2018 Auto Expo will be finally launched by this year. This scooter is being developed in collaboration with Intel and houses advanced features such as GPS Park assist, safety and anti-theft mechanism, fully digital instrument cluster and LED lights.

3. Hero Duet E:
Hero Duet E is consciously built to make it look similar to the company’s successful standard petrol-powered scooter. It possesses an electric motor that is capable of producing 14 Nm of peak torque and 6.7 Ps of peak power. The Duet E can dash from 0 to 60 km mark in a mere 6.5 seconds!

4. Vespa Elettrica:
The once-popular Vespa scooters of Piaggio will come up in a new avatar called ‘Vespa Elettrica’. It will contain a TFT display unit which can be connected to your Smartphone for navigation assistance. The 2 different power modes Eco and Power pave way for energy efficiency. The ‘X’ variant of this model is said to have potential to clock an overall 200 km range on a single charge.

5. 22Kymco iFlow:
This electric vehicle is developed through an exclusive partnership between the Taiwanese scooter manufacturer and the Indian electric scooter startup Twenty Two motors. The highlight of iFlow is the presence of the light-weight Kymco’s swappable IONEX battery system. This allows the vehicle’s owner to remove the battery completely from the scooter and charge it at their home.
