I am really privileged to have been involved in this wonderful journey with Mazhalai foundation. The service that we do for the underprivileged children and the joy it brings in their faces is something that we all can be really proud of. I am hoping to further extend our services to needy children in the upcoming years with the able support of our donators and volunteers.

Our mission is to elevate the well being of orphaned and underprivileged children and empower them to succeed, by helping them help themselves. We aim to motive individuals like you to translate your empathy into action, by providing orphaned children with the opportunity to help them and, be treated with the equality they deserve.
II. Recent Programs page:
Mazhalai Foundation’s Child Care Project:
It promotes the right to survival and development of disadvantaged children, as part of our Children’s Development Program. As you walk along the streets of Chennai, you will see several children wandering around. Many have left destitute villages to find work in the capital and will end up trapped in child labor in restaurants, hotels, and factories. Many of these children are subjected to sexual abuse by their employers too. Without the availability of proper child care and education, more and more children will end up on the streets and vulnerable to abuse.
Mazhalai foundation admits such children into their home and with the help of volunteers in the orphanages; it assists them with childcare and gives the children the much-needed love and attention.

Mazhalai foundation runs different educational and skill training programs for orphans based on the needs of each particular project. Our aim is to provide:
· Quality child care to underprivileged children
· Improve the future prospects of children through providing a solid early childhood education, improving their educational prospects for the future
· Boosting the confidence and aspirations of marginalized children and their families
· Enable inter-cultural exchange which benefits both students and international volunteers alike.
Primary block:
New title: Orphanage volunteering
The city of Chennai is a home to many unfortunate orphan children in India. These are distressed children who come from difficult circumstances, which detached them from the joys of childhood. They require love, care, affection, warmth and, very importantly, education. Volunteers joining the orphanage volunteer program in India will provide support to these underprivileged and uncared children to alleviate their suffering by helping them live a dignified life. Orphans are deprived of many opportunities necessary for their development. Your little help volunteering at an orphanage can be of great significance for these children, providing them with a secure present and a promising future.

We provide necessary care to our children by conducting following activities:
§ Conducting education and training on elementary school subjects, English language classes, art-therapy
§ Organizing social work /group and individual meetings
§ Giving opportunity for psychological /psycho-therapeutic group and individual meetings
§ Distributing home cooked hot meals
§ Frequently conducting recreational /summer camps, excursions, cultural events, etc.

1. How physiotherapy classes helped Rohit
Rohit was a young orphaned kid having severe backache problem. When he joined our orphanage he was very restless and used to get stressed out soon. But, through the able assistance of our dedicated in-house physiotherapy trainer, he was able to slowly relieve himself from the suffering and now he is happier than ever before…
2. How the rehabilitation process worked out for Vijay
Vijay was working in a matchbox factory as a child labourer when we came to hear about him. We rescued him, put him under our rehabilitation process and now his physical and mental health has drastically improved and now he is a topper in his studies too!

A. Orphans and Vulnerable children programs:
Mazhalai foundation has made a commitment to provide comprehensive programming for orphaned and vulnerable children. Our comprehensive caring, supportive, and empowering services for the children reduce their vulnerability and improve access to essential resources and services.
Our aim is to stabilize the home-lives of vulnerable children and ensure that they can focus on their education. Mazhalai foundation’s services include child-centered HIV prevention initiatives, 'Government Registration Days', and an after-school program in addition to care services, caregiver workshops, holiday camps, community gardens and a school feeding program, and weekly support groups.
B. Mazhalai sponsorship program:
The child care services provided by Mazhalai foundation extend beyond a roof above the heads of orphans; the Hostel has become a home where local women provide these vulnerable children with loving care, medical services, balanced nutrition, school enrollment as well as educational enrichment activities, and assistance in strengthening and maintaining positive relationships with what family they have. In several instances, our foundation has helped children find the family they did not know existed, and in that way have taken an active role in restoring life for these children.
Many of these services have been made possible through child sponsorship facilitated by Mazhalai foundation. Since the past few years, individuals have also made annual contributions in support of children residing at the Hostel.
