THINK....EAT...SAVE (theme environmental day 2013)

On this occasion of World environment day its my pleasure to share few things about this year’s theme as a member of eco watch team.
The problem in our country not lies in under production. But the actual problem lies in the fact that we are not utilising our resources to the optimum and rather wasting or misusing them.
We are the same country which produced an incredible “Green Revolution” for agriculture as well as been worst affected by several famines like Bengal famine of 1943,  1960s famine etc.
So where lies the problem? The problem is the uneven distribution of food supply. While tonnes of rice in food corporation godowns are getting spoilt every year there are several people who find it difficult to make their two ends meet! To rectify these things several recovery measures need to be followed including improving irrigation system, encouraging farmers etc which can’t be achieved in a over night.
I am here to just make you understand that we too can contribute in saving our valuable resources by following these simple ways in our daily life:
a) When you go to parties that serve buffet please never ever take more than the quantity that you need.
b) Always buy and eat vegetables on a day to day basis rather than buying in bulk and throwing them off after getting wasted.
c) When you conduct some functions please ensure that you don’t overcook and if so ever if food remains kindly don’t waste them and give them to some people by roadside or some orphanages etc.
d) And a last request to IT people that we are not involved in agriculture so atleast atleast we can contribute by avoiding buying plots that are converted from farm lands by greedy real estate vendors.
e) And to end it on this day i would recommend you all to buy houses with garden space around it or atleast have 1 or 2 pots in your terrace.
LETS TRY TO KEEP THE EARTH GREEN ATLEAST FOR OUR NEXT GENERATION IF NOT FOR THE LATER!!!
