1st Section: Background Context:
 
These Indian idioms are from the chapter ‘A pair of mustachios’. The chapter is written by the well-known writer Mulk Raj Anand. This story consists of two parts. In this specific chapter the author has employed many themes like freedom, pride, class etc.

2nd Section: Explanation:
 
This story chapter is filled with idioms and phrases. Many of them are from Indian origin as well. These idioms seem to add local flavour and provide the reader with the taste of their culture as well, in my opinion. Also, by employing these idioms, the text seem to get richer and more interesting too.

3rd Section: Direct Answer:
 
There are actually a whole lot of idioms of Indian origin being used in the text. Here are a few:
