ADMK party continues to struggle owing to internal issues:

The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) has been single-handedly dominating the TamilNadu’s political arena for several decades. With the able leadership of Dr M.G. Ramachandran and Selvi. J. Jayalalitha, it was almost a cake-walk for the party cadres to step in and dominate the state’s politics. And to add more, the party even became the third largest party at Parliament with 40 MPs thereby making it a force to reckon with in the recent past.

But, once the mercurial leader Selvi. J. Jayalalitha perished, it was all downhill for the entire party. The current MLAs and ministers had to play the side fiddle to the Union Government to stay in power and were not even in a position to function independently. This caused outrage among TamilNadu people and the whole government was itself named as “Binami” Government by several opposition parties and even by leading political critics!

To add more fuel to the fire, the party started to fall apart once Jayalalitha’s close ally V.K Sasikala took the centre stage of the party appointing herself as the party’s Chief Secretary and eyeing for the Chief Minister’s seat. To counteract, the state’s former Chief Minister Mr O. Paneerselvam raised his voice against Sasikala and started a new team by name ‘ADMK Puratchithalaivi’ team. Once Sasikala was sentenced to imprisonment in the asset case, she appointed her trustworthy man Mr Edapadi Palanisamy as the next Chief Minister of the state.

The ADMK party proved its majority in the state’s Legislative assembly and assumed power under the leadership of Edapadi, who was considered as a loyal man to Sasikala. But, when Mr Edapadi was not allowed to take his own decisions and was asked to function against his wish based on commands received from Sasikala, he began to revolt. Meanwhile, Sasikala’s close relative and former MP Mr T.T.V Dinakaran was appointed as the party’s Assistant Chief Secretary to carry party’s duties by Sasikala herself to have a stronghold of the party in her absence.

As Edapadi began to neglect Sasikala and his close aides including Dinakaran, it was the time for former CM Paneerselvam to take advantage and hence talks regarding merging of two split teams under Edapadi’s leadership with Paneerselvam as Vice CM started to take place. After several rounds of negotiations regarding allotment of important ministries to Paneerselvam’s team, both the teams ADMK’s Amma team and Puratchi Thalaivi team decided to reunite last week under the condition that Sasikala and all her relatives will soon be expelled from the party at all cost.

This sparked rage among Sasikala and Dinakaran supporters and hence Mr Dinakaran formed a third team to combat the threat of getting sidelined from the party’s affairs. As each day passes, this team is gaining more and more strength and they are said to currently possess 22 MLAs under their control which could well be a number that is enough to spoil the majority of the leading party forcing re-election or appointment of a new Chief Minister.

With already the party’s symbol ‘Double sided leaf’ being taken away by the Election Commission, the current scenario proves really fatal for the ruling party in the state of TamilNadu. Rumours are that the AIADMK party is under the control of BJP and all the happenings are controlled directly by our Prime Minister Modiji. So, it could be said that the fate of TamilNadu lies with the Governor as his decision to call for proving majority could prove as a major disaster for the ruling party and work in favour of the opposition!
