An organization dedicated to the upliftment of the orphaned children.
OUR PRIMARY ACTIVITIES:
a. CHILD PROTECTION
Infant protection forms the basis of our agenda because it is essential to make sure that these orphaned children don’t end up at the hands of various anti-social elements. At Mazhalai foundation, we take adequate steps to take the orphans immediately into our custody once we get the relevant information, so that we can avoid them from being illegally trafficked.
b. ADOPTION SUPPORT
Adoption is a process whereby a person assumes the parenting of a child, from that person's biological or legal parent or parents, and, in so doing, permanently transfers all rights and responsibilities from the biological parent or parents. These days, more and more people are showing interest in child adoption and we help them to adopt a child from our foundation to bring light in their life.
c. EMPOWERMENT ACTIVITIES
Our support doesn’t end with child protection and adoption, but we extend it further by teaching them essential life skills that are essential to lead an independent life. Moreover, as we all know whenever an elder sibling is relevantly skilled to be employable and begins earning, the journey of empowerment continues beyond the present generation.
OUR MISSION:
a. ELIMINATING CHILD LABOUR
Child labor in India, somehow, has become a social norm that we accept and tolerate in our society. This exploitative and abusive practice will continue unless society adopts a zero-tolerance attitude towards it. Children continue to be exploited and abused because the government and people do not address children’s issues comprehensively and effectively.
More than 200 million children worldwide are still working as child laborers and a staggering 115 million at least, are subject to its worst forms. As per the National Census 2011, there are close to 10.1 million child laborers in India, in the age group of 5 to 14 years.
However, only ‘rescuing’ children, often will not help. That is why we rescue them, rehabilitate them and help them get adopted at the right hands so that they may not be forced to involve in this kind of activities at a later point in time.
b. CREATING A LASTING RELATIONSHIP

The management of Mazhalai foundation aims at creating a long and strong relationship between individuals and business to generate funds for the well being of the homeless children. We do so by making the volunteers visit our center often for various cultural activities and for distributing the donated rice, biscuits, dresses and books. In addition, we even encourage them to celebrate their special occasions such as birthdays with our children to create a sense of emotional connection with our children.
This makes them visit our centers often and contribute more and more to our charity organization. Also, we encourage businesses to sponsor our children’s education and meals by doing regular follow-ups for the welfare of our kids.

II. What we do:
Each child that is admitted into Mazhalai Foundation is unique, suffering a different limitation. Therefore, each one's needs are different. That's why we carefully create rehabilitation process that covers a wide range of activities.
At Mazhalai Foundation we provide a warm and safe environment with proper food and sanitation facilities for the children which enables and helps the developing children to achieve their full potential. Our foundation also conducts various donation programs through which we try to eradicate the hunger condition of the needy children. We are also supplying basic necessities that support daily care such as bottles, clothing, diapers, winter coats, cribs, etc for the babies too.
While a child is in transition to a family, under our care, we guarantee them the following despite all economic challenges:
- A quality education
- A safe and loving environment
- Personalized care so they are healthy and “known”
Our foundation also organizes educational & motivation programs which help the children in terms of gaining Social awareness, understand the need for education, maintaining sound health and strong relationships.

Mazhalai foundation was established in Chennai with the sole vision of helping the destitute children. It is located at No. 23, Parthasarathy Street, Muthamizh Nagar in Pammal and near Arunachala Hotel. At present, our Foundation has over 100 Donors, delivering all the essential commodities needed on a daily basis. Mazhalai Foundation is presently working for the benefit of over 600,000 children every year, through more than 250 live welfare projects on education, healthcare, livelihood and women empowerment, in over 950 remote villages and slums across 25 states of India.
We are currently in the process of developing our own website by name www.mazhalaifoundation.org, in order to gain more visibility and reach out to a wider audience.
